Instructions for downloading and installing the DOS EARS update Release 6.9.0

NOTE: an optional separate ear baseline mode is available. Contact DHSC at 479-925-7700.

The files are downloaded in a self-extracting ZIP format.

  1. Put a removable media, such as a floppy disk, flash disk or R/W CD, in this computer. You may also save to your Desktop or use a temporary folder as a download target.

  2. Download the earsupdate609 file to the media by clicking on the following link:  Download update

  3. If EARS is on a different computer than the one you downloaded to then move the media to the target computer.

  4. Click on the icon on the Desktop, or using My Computer go to the location of earsupdate609 and double-click on it.

  5. A window titled 'Zip Central Self Extracting Archive' will open. It is set to extract to the normal location of EARS (c:\ears). Change it only if you have installed EARS in a different location. Click on the Extract button.

  6. After updating, start up EARS program and verify that the release number on the screen matches the one shown above.  Go to What's New in the Help menu to learn about changes or feature additions that have been made.

  7. Two Word documents can be found in the EARS folder. One is the updated User Manual and the other is the specific instructions for the optional separate-ear baseline mode. There are a number of inter-related settings so print this out and refer to it when configuring.

Optional Windows Print Utility

This is useful if you are having printing problems. The installation files are placed in the EARS folder. Follow instructions 1-3 above except use this download. To install this utility, go to the EARS folder and double-click on EARSPrintInstall.exe to extract the files. Next, double-click on Setup to start the installation. After starting EARS Print, press F1 to read the instructions.
